Wet-forming Process
Wet-forming is the core of specialty papermaking. Premium wood pulp is dispersed in water and shaped via precision wire forming, pressing and drying to deliver base paper with stable surface and customized physical attributes.
TONLI’s four modern wet-forming lines feature deckle widths of 1880mm, 2450mm, 2700mm and 3600mm. With an annual capacity of 110,000 MT, we produce 90–400gsm black card, colored card and converting base paper.
Wet-forming Process

Wet-forming Process

Built around full-process compatibility as core design logic, our standardized wet forming regulates fiber formation across all production stages. Key properties, including dimensional stability and tensile strength, are optimized at the base paper level to accommodate all types of post-paper converting.

Raw Material Fiber Ratio
Selected high-quality wood pulp, including a proportion of recycled pulp, is used, with the fiber ratio adjusted according to product positioning. Through high-consistency pulping and fiber separation, the increase in volume is maximized while preserving the natural length and strength of the fibers, laying the foundation for high-quality substrates.

Pulp Preparation and In-Pulp Dyeing
The freeness is strictly controlled at 38~42°SR to achieve uniform fiber dispersion; in-pulp dyeing ensures color penetration into the fibers, excellent color fastness, and no white showing at folded edges.

Wire Section Dewatering and Forming
Core process intervals. The pulp is evenly sprayed onto the preparation wire through the headbox, and the filtration rate is controlled to form the wet paper web. TONLI's emphasized flow field control technology ensures highly uniform fiber distribution and optimal warp and weft strength ratios.

Press Width
The wet paper web enters the press section, passing through multiple progressive press rolls to remove moisture and improve fiber bonding strength. Precise linear pressure control prevents paper crushing while maintaining acquired bulk.

Drying and Curing
A multi-cylinder drying system is used, employing a gradient drying process from 80-135℃ to eliminate internal stress in the paper, stabilize dimensions, and improve stiffness. Surface treatment is performed simultaneously during the drying process to optimize printability.

Rolling, Slitting, and Quality Inspection
Finished paper rolls are automatically layered and rolled by an online quality inspection system. They are then slit to specified dimensions according to order requirements and shipped with a QC report.
