Surface Finishing & Embossing Process
Built on 25 years of specialty paper manufacturing experience, Tonli Surface Finishing & Embossing turns base stock into tactile art pieces. From precision pattern embossing to multi-dimensional coating, we create unique visual and tactile features for paper.
With custom embossing rolls and finishing lines, we develop dozens of textures and matte, glossy finishes via eco-friendly coating, perfectly suited for premium gift packaging and book binding.
Process Standards
Precisely control every texture detail to craft exclusive tactile charm via rigorous craftsmanship.
We inspect four key indicators: moisture content, caliper, surface strength & color difference. Constant temperature & humidity conditioning optimizes fiber properties to avoid embossing defects such as wrinkling or uneven depth.
Servo-driven steel rolls, plus a PLC closed-loop system, precisely regulate embossing depth, line speed, and tension, with flexible online & offline dual production modes.
By mechanical embossing with precision steel rolls, we deliver four premium textures: suede, leather, matte & pearlescent. Each sheet carries an exclusive branded tactile identity and delivers an instant premium feel upon fingertip contact.
With 29+ standard patterns that match precise Pantone colors and ±0.1mm consistent embossing depth, bulk production maintains steady texture and color without deviation.
Compatible with combined processes, including embossing + coating and embossing + flexo printing, a single sheet integrates texture, color, and printed graphics all at once.
Low-VOC coating formulation; finished products comply with international REACH and RoHS environmental regulations.
Core Equipment
Four core production units cover lab sampling to mass finishing, forming hardware advantages for embossing.
1
Off-line Independent Embossing Unit
The servo system automatically adjusts pressure and tension, operating separately from base paper lines for flexible order runs of all sizes. Compatible with wide grammage & width ranges, it handles both stock and custom patterns, with total embossing output exceeding 50 million meters.
2
Imported Custom Embossing Steel Rolls
Fabricated from high-strength alloy steel via laser or chemical etching. Depth-adjustable, wear-resistant, and pre-qualified before use to avoid pattern deformation in mass production; available with existing patterns or bespoke new roll development.
3
Integrated Super Calender
Multi-roll pressing under high heat and pressure locks embossed texture, improves Bekk smoothness, unifies surface finish and optimizes subsequent printability.
4
Pattern Proofing & Sampling Equipment
Bench-top lab unit for small-batch trial runs. Samples ready in 3–5 working days to verify patterns and eliminate production risks prior to full-scale manufacturing.
Wide-width wet forming delivers uniform fiber distribution and consistent caliper through precise process control. With 110,000 tons annual capacity, it provides stable base stock for embossing and coating applications.
Eco-friendly double-sided wet coating with precise layer control for a smooth surface & high dot reproduction, producing gloss/matt C2S art paper for books & luxury packaging.
Solvent-free functional coating under a Class 10000 cleanroom for permanent antistatic & halogen-free performance complying with RoHS, ideal for semiconductor industrial paper.
